Day 1: The beginning…

I have been thinking about this year’s New Year’s Resolution for some time now. I always come up with resolutions that deal with losing weight, living a healthier lifestyle, figuring out myself, etc…yet each year, I feel like I fail myself. I was starting to think that I was done with New Year’s Resolutions this time around.

And then this morning, as I was frantically driving to work (woke up late…AGAIN) I heard the morning radio hosts talking about how someone at a Canadian coffee shop asked the drive thru attendant if they could pay for the car behind them. When that person received their free coffee, they decided to “pay it forward” and  pay for the next person’s tab…and on and on it went. FOR MORE THAN TWO HOURS! What started as one random act of kindness turned into a chain of good deeds that resulted in 228 customers paying it forward! I was quite moved by this story…

Then as I was waiting for my tea and bagel in the drive thru of a local donut shop, the attendant at the window asked if I had anything smaller than a $20 bill because they didn’t have enough change and it dawned on me…the universe was telling me that this was my chance to use that story on the radio and do the same. So I asked if I could just pay for the person behind me. And so there it was…my first random act of kindness.

The $3.16 tab that I paid, got me thinking…this is something I could do everyday! I can easily do one random act of kindness a day. THAT would be my New Year’s Resolution. To stop worrying about myself so much, and start thinking about ways to “pay it forward” and share the blessings in my life.

So, starting today, I vow to do 365 random acts of kindness – once a day until January 2, 2014.

Until tomorrow…

    • Thank you so much! I’d love to hear about your ideas for acts of kindness and your experiences!

I’m actually very new to this whole thing…I’m shocked I was able to post anything at all without asking someone for help! Just praying that I don’t run into any hiccups! 🙂

  1. You did a wonderful job getting started. Your blog looks really fun and inviting…and no worries, you won’t run into any hiccups. Blogging is really a cinch, but just holler if you have questions, I’d be more than happy to help! (That can be my random act of kindness. lol!) Here’s to an amazing 2013~
